Bubble Fun

Last week during my OB appointment (I was 38w5d in these photos) my mom rode to the office with me and took William to a park right around the corner. There is a pond full of geese and a sidewalk that goes around it. Also some shady area with picnic tables. So, a toy lawnmower, bubbles and a ball provided 2+ hours of entertainment! Here are some sweet photos she took of us playing together since we will soon have a brother or sister in the mix.

I have been making an honest effort to pay less distracted time with William. The weather has been beautiful and we spend hours at a time outside. My phone is inside. Everything else can wait (unless my husband is away on travel for work). I realize that our lives will soon change and I want him to have my full attention as long as possible. It has also left me with mixed emotions about asking his grandmothers for help even though I may need it. I feel bad "passing him off" even though he has a wonderful time with them.

I LOVE his sheer joy in this photo!

Another fun shot except my eyes are closed so darn tight...

Blueberry Boys (and Blueberry Jam!)

It is finally blueberry-picking time here in Maryland so last weekend I took William along with my friend Erin and her 22 month old son to Homestead Farms in Poolesville where I always like to go for PYO (pick-your-own) fruit. PYO blueberries are only $2.49/pound which was great. We finally had a break in the humidity so it was a perfect day for picking and taking the fun tractor ride.

I ended up picking about $7.50 worth of blueberries, so about three pounds. While out in the field, Erin suggested making blueberry jam during naptime. My husband has always wanted me to can fruits and vegetables, especially ones from our garden or that I pick but I have never had the time. Since I used to be away at work from 7am-7pm and weekends were filled with standard chores, a little fun with friends and then a newborn last year, I was not interested.

Well, we did it..blueberry jam that is! Stay tuned :D

A REAL Snow Day

My goodness, if I thought there was snow on Wednesday, then I don't even know what to call our current 22+ inch accumulation. Some are calling it snowpocalypse or snowmageddon, I'm just looking at it in disbelief. This is the second time this winter that we have had this much snow at once. We went to be with about eight inches on the ground and woke up to nearly twenty.

We did go out and frolic around a bit and saw a snow plow pass by our street three times without turning into our neighborhood so I'm not sure how long we'll be stuck. My wonderful husband did spend a few hours shoveling our driveway, but the snow in the road is still knee-deep.
